Welcoming Dr. Dana Isard: A New Addition to Our Veterinary Family

Here at Cascade Hospital for Animals, we're thrilled to introduce our newest veterinarian, Dr. Dana Isard. With a passion for compassionate care, Dr. Isard brings a blend of expertise and enthusiasm to our team.

A Journey to Veterinary Medicine

Hailing from the charming town of Cheboygan, Michigan, Dr. Isard's journey into veterinary medicine was a lifelong dream rooted in her childhood. After earning her Bachelor of Business Administration from Northwood University in 2009, Dr. Isard embarked on a path that eventually led her to pursue her true calling in veterinary medicine. She obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Michigan State University in 2022, followed by a research fellowship in behavior and a rotating internship at the same institution in 2023. When asked about her motivation to pursue a career in veterinary medicine, Dr. Isard shared, "I wanted to be a vet since childhood, though I took a few detours on the path to where I am at today. My passion is helping anxious and fearful patients and their guardians navigate veterinary care and home environments. I am also passionate about breed advocacy and educating guardians on humane training methods."

Joining the Cascade Hospital for Animals Family

Dr. Isard's dedication to providing gold-standard medicine and her commitment to ongoing learning align perfectly with our values here at Cascade Animal Hospital. When asked what attracted her to join our practice, she expressed, "I was inspired to pursue a position at Cascade Hospital for Animals to be part of a compassionate, collaborative team dedicated to practicing gold-standard medicine. In veterinary medicine, you are never done learning, and I am excited to be surrounded by so much experience and knowledge."

Beyond the Stethoscope: Dr. Isard's Interests and Hobbies

Outside of her veterinary pursuits, Dr. Isard leads a vibrant life filled with diverse interests and hobbies. She resides with her boyfriend who works in human medicine. Dr. Isard says, “I enjoy talking through tough cases with him to get a different perspective and vice versa.”

She also enjoys spending quality time with her beloved dog, Bruce, a sweet pit bull mix who has a particular fondness for kittens. Dr. Isard's fostering of kittens, combined with Bruce's endearing fondness for them, resulted in a heartwarming outcome: enter Margo, the spirited cat discovered on the streets of Detroit. Margo's boundless energy and fearless spirit captured Dr. Isard's heart, making her a cherished addition to their home. Dr. Isard still fosters kittens for the local shelter. In her free time, you can find her exploring new hiking trails, dining at new restaurants, and soaking up the sunshine at dog-friendly patios.
