More about Dr. Schaffer

Becky Schaffer, DVM loves the variety that the veterinary profession brings! She saw an array of animals during her years as an ER vet, but the most exciting was a real circus lion. A traveling circus had a sick male lion that needed emergency care. She was able to perform treatments on the lion through the bars of the trailer he was in, giving medications so that he could be sent to a facility more equipped to do further testing on the big cat. Three years later Dr. Schaffer was reunited with the lion who is now in great health.

Outside of work, Dr. Schaffer prizes family time and spends most of her days with her husband and children. She enjoys landscaping projects and jogs frequently or as often as her schedule allows. On a day with no responsibilities Dr. Schaffer can be found curled up in a hammock with a good book and to finish out the day by trying a new restaurant for dinner. Her favorite zoo animal is the sea otter because they never seem to have a day without play. If Dr. Schaffer had a warning label it would read "Do not use prior to filling the coffee tank."
